What is counselling and how does it work?
Counselling is based on a relationship of trust and confidentiality. It is an approach that consists of listening and supporting the client in a safe and confidential place where the client can talk about anything that is confusing or painful to him. Sometimes challenging situations occur, and counselling offers support in navigating various circumstances. The counsellor is there to guide and support the client to discover his own strengths and qualities with which to manage his reality and to reach his potential. Counselling provides opportunities to discover new things about oneself and the chance to see one’s life from a different perspective, offering prospects for change and the ability to make new choices. It is a place to explore different thoughts and feelings with the support of a counsellor who is non-judgemental and has an objective viewpoint. At KESHET we use creative media to engage the client fully in the process of awareness and discovery, and to empower him to discover his own solution in a gentle and supportive way.
Where relevant we coordinate with schools, medical experts and mental health professionals, to ensure the well-being of the child or adolescent engaged in therapy. This takes place with the clients’ permission.
Counsellor and client meet on a regular basis working at the clients pace to sort through the stories and concerns he brings.
